Special Interest:  The historic quality of much of the boroughs townscape is reflected in the fact that 70% of the boroughs area is covered by conservation area designations. Holland Park Conservation Area is known for attractive terraces of large Victorian townhouses and the semi-wild woodland of Holland Park. The Royal Crescents built in 1840, to the design of planner Robert Cantwell (Grade II* Listed) also characterises the conservation area through the majesty and character it creates within the streetscape.

Scope of Professional Services:
Heritage Architecture Ltd were commissioned to undertake the following:

  • CONSERVATION ADVICE: Heritage Architecture Ltd provided advice on the conservation issues relating to the visual impact of a congestion charge camera pole and associated cameras and cabinets by Transport for London, in the vicinity of the two Listed Buildings and the Holland Park Conservation Area.
  • PLANNING APPEAL [PUBLIC INQUIRY]: Heritage Architecture Ltd undertook background research in relation to the character and appearance of the Holland Park Conservation Area and assessed the potential visual impact of the camera pole on the setting of the historic environment.  Our work also included proof of evidence and appeal statements; participation in pre-inquiry strategy sessions; and attendance at the inquiry as an expert witness for Transport for London.
